Hi, I am Rakku.

My very first convention was Dokomi 2026. A friend, Marcel, spontaneously lent me his camera so I could take some photos for a mutual friend — my very first time shooting with a real camera at a convention. When Marcel then went off to join other friends, I suddenly found myself completely alone: unfamiliar gear in my hands, thousands of people around me, and from one moment to the next I had to figure out on my own how to handle it all.

At some point it got to be too much. I was completely overwhelmed, so I took a step back — just stood there and let the hall wash over me. I watched the people around me: the laughter between groups of friends, the joy over a costume that had come together perfectly, small glances and gestures no one else had noticed. And right in that moment, it hit me for the first time what photography actually means to me. It's not about the perfect shot or the most expensive gear — it's about capturing moments that are inherently fleeting, but should never be forgotten.

With that realization, I went back to shooting — with a completely different eye. Ever since, I try to find and capture exactly those small, unassuming, but truly special moments in every single shoot. It genuinely matters to me that you can still look at these photos in 100 years and feel the same joy you felt the day they were taken. In the end, there's really just one thing I want my photos to do: give you back the feeling you had in that exact moment.
